The Place of Restoration Resource Center: How
We Started

We are founded on the Christian principle of Matthew 25:35, which states, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in.” Our key role is to address hunger in our community.

The PORRC is a vital link between food resources and community-based partner agencies that help get the food into the hands of families and individuals in need. Additionally, our extended outreach provides community access to health and financial resources.

Goals

  • To give access to nutritious food daily
  • To serve a diverse population
  • To partner with a variety of food distribution resources
  • To partner with health and financial agency resources

Our Core Values

Integrity

We commit to serve and work ethically and truthfully by helping everyone regardless of race, color, citizenship, religion, gender, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, disability, and sexual orientation, including gender identity or expression in the community.

Dignity

Everyone has worth and value in society. We commit to serve and respect everyone regardless of one’s status in life.

Partnership

We collaborate with grocery stores and food distribution agencies to recover fresh meats, fruits, and vegetables (including perishable and nonperishable food items) to distribute to individuals and families who need nutritious food.

Donor

We value, respect, and appreciate our donors’ contributions. They promote our mission and goals, strengthen the community, and foster community engagement.
